Was so excited in the morning that we were kind of run to the other side of the island for fishing. We knew that the island is small, but it still took us a bit of time 😀 haha, indeed, I still took pictures, videos of plenty things and people on the way 😀 Were a bit late, but every was so nice and welcome us 🙂
At first, they didn’t let us really do it but only observing, put the mask on and follow them. Then I asked if I can try? Sure =)) So I joined them to put the net down (‘tak-tak’), get into the water and see what happened under even I had no idea what it was =)) We put the net in the shallow water only, about 3-5m deep. The net was 10m long, and about 1m wide. They moved the boat in a curve shape while putting the net down. Apparently, the shape will changed accordingly to fish’s way 🙂
Then, they taught me how to take the net up and take out the fish. I tried to bite on the head to paralyse them but was all failed =)) then I just simply removed them. Big ones are done by a boy, small ones are mine job 🙂 Each time, we let the net under water for only 10-15 minutes, and take it up gradually. If the fish was too small, we let it back to the ocean. There was one that get hurt, and was eaten by bigger fishes as soon as he get down into the water 😦 Another fish was crushed and used as bait to attract others. Seems terrible 😦 While taking up the net, it could be hooked into stones, corals… and in that case, another fisherman will dive underneath to remove it out 🙂 What a great team spirit 🙂
During the time that we waited for fishes coming into the net, they kept playing under water, diving up and down. It was so beautiful seeing them make a turn when getting up ❤ Just like the mermaid 😉 They played with a Nemo but he was too fast for them all =)) It seems like they always enjoy it like that, fishing and playing at the same time. Beautiful sky, beautiful ocean, even more beautiful fish and coral so there is no need to be hurry 😀
All of them started fishing since they were about 10 11 years old. The oldest kuya said that the biggest fish he caught was a whale :3 no idea if it is true or not, it was banned since 21 years ago, he is 29 years old now, meaning he hunted whale at the age of 7 or 8 O_O?
We went for 2 3 hours only, fished 3 times, and finally get back with a small bucket of fish. They said that the fish will only for their daily use but not for sale so there was no need of fishing a lot, once every 2 3 days is enough 🙂
I learnt so much that morning, and also a lot of Bisayas but forgot them all by now 😛
Conclude: It was an amazing morning. I didn’t have that much of chance to enjoy like that ❤ Thank you all, very much ^^
